EXPERIENCE THE NEWEST CONCEPT IN WINE TASTING!
SEE WHY PEOPLE ARE CALLING THIS THE BEST WINERY TOURING OPTION.
For only $49.95* per person you get shuttled to your choice of over 20 wineries on Paso Robles' famed West Side. No other service gives you the freedom and flexibility to taste at your own pace and choose where you want to go.
What's different? We are a door to door, "Hop On, Hop Off" shuttle service. We let you set your pace and create your own itinerary. Our climate controlled, BioDiesel vans pick you up at your accommodations and start you on our loop of over 20 wineries. You can "hop on and hop off" at whichever wineries you want and we'll be back to pick you up in 40 minutes. Pick ups are generally scheduled between 10:30-11:30am, coordinated geographically, and the end of the day is typically 4:30-5:30pm. Late pick ups and early returns are also possible upon request.
When you choose to "hop off" we walk you in, introduce you to the tasting room staff who take you from there, tell you about their wines and their winery, and do your pouring and tasting. When we return, we walk in, let you know we are back and if you're ready, you "hop" back on to proceed to the next winery of your choice. If you choose to stay a bit longer, no problem - we'll be back again in another 40 minutes to take you to your next destination. Our Wine Line Tasting Guide may help you make your choice of which wineries to visit.
As you are going to be out all day, lunch is always a concern. On our Lunch Menu file you'll find the choices for the lunch we, and two others, can offer you. Underscoring our mission of freedom and flexibility, we have six options available to you:
1. Bring your own carried in our cooler until you're ready to picnic at a vineyard.
2. Enjoy The Wine Line gourmet organic lunch for $10 per person.
3. Pick up a gourmet organic sandwich and sides at Farmstand 46 at the Four Vines tasting room and get 10% off
4. Eat lunch and do tasting at your table at Eagle Castle Winery from 11:30-3:30 (12-2 Winter Hours)
5. Get shuttled to downtown ($10pp) and eat at your choice of
restaurants and cafes around the park, visit any of the 14 tasting
rooms in the area and call to be picked back up.
6. Have It's A Wrap deliver their delicious wraps to you on the loop
Check out our Lunch Menu to review our sandwich options, and Farmstand 46 and Eagle Castle's offerings.
We only need to know in advance, preferably by the day before your tour, if we are providing your lunch. Everything else can be decided on a whim!
You no longer have to be stuck with a group all day, subject to their pace or only visit the wineries to which they are all taken. And because you won't spend all of your money on transportation you can afford to buy some of the fabulous wine and take it home to enjoy!
*$49.95 is for the all day, "Hop On, Hop Off" service, with pick up and return in the Paso Robles, Atascadero and Templeton region. Additional pick up charges apply for outside areas (per group, not per person) as follows:
Cambria-$35
San Luis Obispo-$35
San Simeon-$40
Cayucos/Morro Bay-$40
Shell/Avila/Pismo Beach-$45
WHY WE STARTED THE WINE LINE...
After being disappointed in the transportation options for wine tasting in Paso Robles, the owner was perplexed as to why no one offered an affordable and flexible touring service with the convenience of a city bus line.
The only services he could find were either private cars/limos or guided group tours. The private cars/limos were very expensive and the guided tours were restrictive and not what they were looking for. He had been wine tasting quite a bit and didn't really want a tour guide telling him how to taste, why it should taste good, etc.
After much fruitless searching, convinced there could be a better way, he determined to develop it. He envisioned a "Hop On, Hop Off" style shuttle service allowing people to choose from several of the hundreds of excellent wineries in the Paso area, on their own schedule, in the company of people with whom they choose to enjoy the experience.
Following some research and favorable interest from wineries, he decided to try out the concept. He mapped out a route, drove it over and over again and finally settled on the timing of each stop. With confirmation of the wineries and the interest of a close friend to help with running the business, the owner jumped in with both feet.
Realizing the environmental impact of all the driving they would be doing, the owner opted to reduce his carbon footprint and researched energy efficient transportation. Soon after, biodiesel vans were purchased, biodiesel manufacturing equipment was acquired, the necessary licensing and insurance was obtained, the advertising began and The Wine Line was born! The rest is history...
Because The Wine Line is all about options - we'd like to offer you our Wine Line Tasting Guide to Wineries of Paso Robles free of charge. Armed with this guide, it can inform you as to the wineries you may want to visit on your trip.

However, we will attempt to address this before it becomes a concern, encouraging some water and food. We value your business and want your experience with The Wine Line to be overwhelmingly positive. We want you to Hop On again and again!

Currently The Wine Line services what's known locally as Paso Robles' "West Side" or also, "46 West". This area, which is west of Hwy 101, is accessed by Hwy 46 that takes you to the coast. The west side is the location of the majority of well known Paso Robles wineries and includes the esteemed "Templeton Gap".
Paso Robles Wine Country is located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles along California's Central Coast. "Paso" (as the locals call it) is the largest geographic appellation in California and has more than 26,000 acres under vine. With its hot days, cool nights, mineral rich soil, and varied topography, Paso Robles mimics many of the characteristics of the Rhone Valley in France.
While once known primarily for Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, it is our blended wines that seem to be gaining the most momentum. Since 2000, when Justin Winery's ISOSCLES was named one of the 10 Best Wines in the World, numerous other wineries have followed this trend. Paso Robles can claim over 40 different varietals being grown and is quickly gaining recognition for its Rhone varietals. We hope you'll join us soon to see why esteemed wine critic Robert M. Parker has called Paso Robles the area with the most potential in all of California.
The Wine Line is proud to provide service to many of the premier Paso Robles wineries for wine tasting and touring. We have special arrangements with the following wineries on the famed west side of Paso Robles. We guarantee that once you experience wine touring The Wine Line way, you'll Hop On again and again.
As a courtesy to all visitors to our website, and to empower you with valuable insight and information, we'd like to offer our FREE Wine Line Tasting Guide.
The wineries we service make their living from selling wine, not selling tastings. As they are the lifeblood of the Central Coast we encourage you, if you find a wine you like, or a winery you like, buy some bottles, join a club, anything to help support these local businesses.

I just wanted to say thank you SO much for coordinating our wine tasting. Mike, our driver, was absolutely awesome. He was punctual at each stop (we were having such a good time at each place we never had to wait around)!
We work for the XXX TV News affiliate in Bakersfield. The bride-to-be is the 5p producer, I am the Weekend Anchor. Our main anchor, Robin M., came along and brought two of her friends with her. She loved the Wine Line.
Together with your advice on wineries, and the service we experienced, we will definitely use the Wine Line again.
So, bravo on your service and I am sure we will be calling on you again!

Dear Jason,
Thank you very much for a wonderful experience yesterday. My husband, Andy, and I had a great time traveling to - and experiencing - 3 wineries. Your services were just terrific. You and Robert were so nice and accommodating and the services you provided were perfect for allowing us to have a fun and care-free day. Thank you for arranging to work with us on an "off" day and for arranging for us to be dropped off back "home" when we were ready. The day couldn't have been nicer and that's in thanks, in no small part, to your kindness, well-organized and comprehensive services. We wish you all the luck in the world with your new business. We are sure you will be successful!
Thanks again,
Mary & Andy W.

HI guys - we had a GREAT time and I think you are doing a fantastic job with this new business venture.
Linda R.
Thank goodness that your business is available and in our area! It was such a comfortable experience and knowing that a truly fun time can be had without the worry of getting around safely. The efficiency of getting picked up every 40-minutes was a good reminder to move onto the next winery. So many of them...so little time :0)
The lunch was delicious and just the right amount of food. Being knowledgeable of the types of wines each location offers was also big plus.
I'm referring people looking for stress-free transportation to your company. Keep up the great service and being around for many more years to come!

We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed ourselves on Saturday. We found the tour to be well organised yet relaxed from the start of the booking process until you dropped us off at the end of the day. We particularly liked how you introduced us to tasting room staff before departing, and that we could bring our own picnic.
We wish you every success in your business - please let us know when you open up a branch in the Napa and Sonoma!
Cheers

This service is absolutely fantastic. With a choice of 21 different wineries, there is a winery for every taste, but you don't have to taste every winery. You decide where and when you want to go. Not only is this a unique and economical way to do a wine tour, the personalized service is what really sets the Wine Line apart from other wine tours. Jason and Ricky rock! I can't wait to come back again.
Cheers,

Coming in from Out of State? Need to know how to ship your wine home? Safe Haven Wine Services is a wine consolidating/shipping company that operates out of the same facility as we do. They can save you headaches and money by consolidating your wine purchases and shipping it home in one package. (Cannot ship to AR, KY, MD, MA, MS, NH, PA, UT).
Since they are in the same industrial park, you simply fill out the information form (billing/shipping info, wine inventory, etc.) and we can drop your wine off at their offices for you at no additional cost.
Suggested Itineraries
Following are three different ways to spend some time in Paso Robles. You can easily build an itinerary whether you want something Quaint and Cozy, are looking for the biggest Bang for Your Buck, or even if you are looking to quench your Discerning Taste.
Quaint & Cozy
Download Our Quaint & Cozy Itinerary
If you are looking for something smaller and more intimate, well you're in luck. Paso Robles, and the rest of the Central Coast, has retained most of its small town charm and you'll find it in some of the following recommendations:
Lodging
We'd have to recommend staying at one of the nearby Bed & Breakfasts that all offer hosts that are there to please you. From the downtown convenience of the Vine Street Inn to the loft above the winery at Zenaida Cellars, to the romantic seclusion of Orchard Hill Farms you will not be disappointed. You can find a number of the best Bed & Breakfasts at PasoRoblesGetaways.com or vacation rentals at PasoRoblesVacationRentals.com.
Dining
While we aren't chocked full of little coffee houses or sidewalk cafes, we do have some great small town cooking that boasts big town flavor. For breakfast, try Joe's Other Place (730 S Main St., 805 434 5637) in nearby Templeton, it's a greasy spoon sort of place and a 10 minute drive, but you'll soon see why people make the drive religiously every weekend. For lunch, not much beats the patio of Bistro Laurent. Laurent, the owner, is like so many other highly regarded chefs around here - they are all transplants from gourmet restaurants in Los Angeles. In addition to great meals like their fresh tuna nicoise salad, they have an excellent wine selection. Dinner is perhaps where Paso shines the best, we have numerous gourmet restaurants, but the coziest is most likely to be the new Thomas Hill Organics. An intimate courtyard patio with fresh organic foods sets this gem away from the competition. After dinner, if you are looking for a nightcap, check out the Pony Club located inside the regal Hotel Cheval. There is a cozy fireplace inside and a great people watching patio outside, with an occasional guitar player.
Miscellaneous
A few other suggestions for the quaint and cozy would be to visit any of the areas farmer's markets. Templeton's market on Saturdays and San Luis Obispo's on Thursday night's are Sunset Magazine material. In addition, you might enjoy a drive down to the beach town of Cayucos (a one lane town with a few historic buildings from the early 1900's), or a little further up the coast to Cambria. You can easily spend a day in the little shops, at the beach, or just grab a great meal at a number of excellent restaurants like Hoppe's or Cass House in Cayucos or Black Cat Bistro in Cayucos.
BANG FOR THE BUCK
Download Our Bang for the Buck Itinerary
Just because Paso Robles has been repeatedly referred to as "The Next Napa" (Forbes, Sunset, NY Times), it doesn't mean you have to break the bank to have a great time here.
Lodging
Like most cities, the local hotels will raise prices on big travel days and special events like Hospice du Rhone, Wine Festival, and the County Fair. But, there are still a number of nice accommodations that will leave plenty of money left to spend on wine. For starters, the Paso Robles Inn, located right across the street from the town square can be as low as $99/night. You might spend a few more dollars there, but the convenience to the square and its shops and restaurants is worth it. A little farther out on the edge of town is the Best Western Black Oak Motor Lodge. If you just need a place to sleep and fancy amenities are all that's required, the old Melody Ranch Motel (939 Spring St., 805 238 3911) on Spring Street will do just fine.
Dining
Breakfast is very reasonable throughout Paso Robles. From the diner at the Paso Robles Inn to the Cowgirl Cafe, we're sure the home town cooking will fill you up - portions are large around here! Lunch perhaps offers the biggest bang for the buck opportunity in all of the north county (Paso Robles, Atascadero, Templeton). If you like Mexican food, then you are in luck. There is a place on Spring Street called Los Robles Cafe (1420 Spring St., 805 239 8525) that has al pastor tacos to die for - and they're a steal (I promise, you won't be disappointed). The only problem is they are only served Thursday through Sunday. In case you missed them or Mexican is not your thing, Good Ol' Burger (1145 24th St., 805 238 0655) at the north end of town is a destination point for numerous people travelling on the 101. Their burgers are big, fat, juicy and unforgettable. For dinner there is a great Irish pub aptly called The Crooked Kilt. Earlier in the evening the place gets more of a food crowd craving their traditional Irish meals. Later though, the "pint crowd" moves in and yes, the servers wear crooked kilts! Another option to consider is Basil (828 11th St., 805 238 9945), a Thai food place right on the downtown square.
DISCERNING TASTES
Download Our Discerning Tastes Itinerary
If your palate requires find dining and your head needs a fluffed pillow - fear not. Paso Robles can satisfy even the most discerning tastes. Even though this is an agricultural based community many people have brought first class accommodations and faire to the area.
Dining
There is a reason Bon Appetit named Paso Robles as "the next great food region in California"! From the modern California cuisine of Artisan to Authentic French at Bistro Laurent, to organic "early California" cuisine at Villa Creek, there are a number of excellent restaurants.
Lodging
Not to be outdone by the fine cuisine, Paso has its share of first class hotels as well. For a Tuscan escape with views of vineyards and wild peacocks running around stone and gravel paths, it's hard to beat the gorgeous Villa Toscana. Located just a 5 minute drive from town, you'll be pampered in Paso's only four star/five diamond hotel. If staying in the heart of the action is more your style, nothing can best Hotel Cheval. You'll find sumptuously appointed rooms, multiple courtyard fireplaces, a reading library and even a horse drawn carriage to trot off to your dinner reservations. On of the newer establishments just at the southern edge of town is La Bellasera Hotel. It is right on the path to the famed West Side of Paso Robles wine country and has its own bar, spa and fine dining establishment within.
